Large amounts of items don't seem to work

When trying to edit a form (granted it has a lot of fields, and many entries), I got the following error:

Too many changes applied before saving document. Please save changes in smaller batches using Document.saveAndClose(), then reopen the document with Document.openById().

In the 15 months since I left this comment, I'm afraid I have found another method of creating merged documents. I will see if I can check into this again, but I don't think I have the document I was testing this with before.

I don't mean to sound ungreatful, thanks for the fix and replying to this - I just have moved on.

Thanks. I'd be interested in the other method you found, if it works with merging to very large documents.

i'm experiencing the same issue -
