I agree that the mission statement should NOT be random. Mission creep is a serious problem that can fragment an organization. I think we should have a single mission statement.
However, I think we should have random tag lines. The tagline is a quick characterization of the organization, and everyone should be able to contribute their perspective. We could create a folder called taglines, and then store the taglines as .json objects. This would print on homepage, such as:
Hacker Union
Hackers collaboratively building cool shit.
Hacker Union
Beer and artisanal sodas for those that don't drink. Ok.
Hacker Union
A united infrastructure for creative technologists.
The mission statement would be agreed upon by the entire organization (perhaps voted upon?)
