Idea: coloring based on percentile, quartile, and/or standard deviation

What would be necessary to create an option, e.g. 'breaks', for selecting how to align the data and color spectrum divisions? Specifically, I would like to divide the data/color gradient along some derived statistical boundaries such as percentile or standard deviations (perhaps passed in as an array of breakpoints). I can provide the data breakpoints, but am not sure how to enable the breakpoint selection key in the ActivityMap library.

For a specific library example, the Simple Statistics library provides a quantileSorted method that can divide a given dataset into quantile breaks.
