Electronic Manufacturing Services: Economic importance of electronic component manufacturing underestimated
According to In4ma, the electronic manufacturing services (EMS) industry employs approximately 2.35 million people worldwide. According to New Venture Research (NVR), the industry has an annual turnover of 543 billion US dollars. The European market accounts for 50 billion euros of this. According to NVR's analysis, by 2024, 50 percent of the production of all electronic products worldwide will be carried out by EMS service providers.
The electronic manufacturing services industry is therefore a classic outsourcing segment. The companies see themselves as service providers responsible for the complete contract manufacturing of electronic assemblies, devices and systems. This includes development, PCB assembly, test concepts and worldwide delivery.
The Asia-Pacific region accounts for more than 80 percent of the top 50 EMS revenues, followed by the Americas (16 percent). Europe and the Middle East are a distant second (2 percent).

With the aim of promoting a transfer of science and paving the way for effective collaborations, productronica created a meeting place for the entire PCB and EMS industry with the PCB & EMS Cluster. Exhibitors, visitors and partners can meet here, exchange ideas and find the right supplier for their requirements.
