Allow manual icon overrides to take precedence over rule-based icons

Hello!
I mainly use rule-based icon assignments based on specific property values, and they work very well for most cases. However, there are times when I would like to assign a custom icon to a specific file.

At the moment, when I try to change the icon manually on a note that already has a rule-based icon, I see a message like “This icon is disabled by rule ○○”, and it seems that manual icon assignment is not possible.

Is there currently any way to assign a manual icon to a note that already has a rule-based icon? If not, I would like to request this as a feature.

Personally, it feels more natural if manually assigned icons take precedence over rule-based icons by default.

Hi iiz00, this is technically a feature already! You can add a condition to a rule that excludes notes which already have icons:

Thank you for the reply! I wasn’t aware of that setting.

Using that condition, it looks like I can achieve the behavior I want, so this works well for me.

In my own use case, I don’t really encounter situations where rule-based icons need to take precedence over manually assigned icons, but the current approach is perfectly fine.
