Description
Hello,
In master/R/wind_conversion.R, the text explains that "the ratio of gradient wind speed to surface wind speed is assumed to be 0.9." (lines 24-25)
So i deduce that for sea, vmax_gl=vmax_sfc_sym*0.9
calc_gradient_speed <- function(vmax_sfc_sym, over_land){ reduction_factor <- 0.9 if(over_land){ reduction_factor <- reduction_factor * 0.8 } vmax_gl <- vmax_sfc_sym / reduction_factor return(vmax_gl)
In the function calcul_gradient_speed (lines 45-51), it is vmax_gl=vmax_sfc_sym/0.9
How explain the difference?
Why reduction factor increases the windspeed? Why the windspeed is bigger in land than in sea?
Thank for your help!
Have a good day!
Charles from France
