invert mode does not apply patterns to special files

When using invert mode, I find that I can see either all symbolic links in any directory that matches a pattern or no symbolic links anywhere, depending on whether I use "|type:LNK". Is this intended behavior?

I would like to control the special files using patterns like regular files.
