Just a thought, but is it feasable to package any of this as a shim in the period where browser support is still spotty?

I understand that a JavaScript implementation will always be bigger than just loading a full font, and also probably slowing in patching the font. But I was wondering if such an idea is being worked on.

The client in this demo in it's current state it's lacking quite a bit of functionality that a proper shim/polyfill would need. However, this could definitely be a good starting point for the development of one. That is something we will eventually want.

The main piece that's missing is automatic detection of content changes and routing those through to generate extension requests. For the demo extension requests for content changes are triggered directly from the demo ux javascript.
