Finish Flac sound is white noise on Ubunutu

No big deal,

but when the timer finishes on my machine ( Ubunutu 16.04 ) the audio that is played is all garbled

Thanks for bringing this up!

Litetimer uses play-sound to play audio once the timer finishes. This is done by executing an audio player (e.g. mplayer, omxplayer, afplay, etc.) already installed on the system.

The following is the list of default audio players from the play-sound docs:

• mplayer
• afplay
• mpg123
• mpg321
• play
• omxplayer
• aplay
• cmdmp3

Based on your description, I suspect the audio player being used may not have FLAC support. Alternatively, the player may just require a specific option to enable FLAC support.

If you can identify with what player you're experiencing the issue, we can work from there. You can do so in a couple ways:

• Check the process of the player that is run when the timer finishes
• which <player> for each player in the list and identify which one(s) are installed

e.g.

❯ which afplay
/usr/bin/afplay

is the only one I have installed by default on macOS

You may also consider installing one of the other players on the list for an immediate solution. Once we've gathered the additional information we'll be able to move forward on a fix.

Ubuntu 17.10
Player used: aplay

Garbled noise at end of timer and after pressing q to quit I get the following error message:

Error: Unable to play audio

I assume the original poster has a similar situation.

Sorry, finally got round to this,
it's being played using aplay

if I run

$ aplay node_modules/litetimer/haiku.flac

I hear the same garbled noise, I can't seem to find the right command line flags to get it to play..

Installing mplayer also worked

$ sudo apt install mplayer
