This is also a problem for the ICS export. If no end time is set it defaults to 23:59 on the same day.
Maybe a constant offset (like start time + 2 hrs) as a default value is better?

I think it should be required to set an end time, except it's really "open end" like Sommerfest or Spieleabend

Would it be better to show „Heute ab xx Uhr“ in the overview instead of „Jetzt“?

I think the default of 23:59 is pretty sensible, at least it's better than assuming each event goes on for 2 hours. Setting the end time should be encouraged, is there a way to add a warning to a pull request if events are submitted that do not have an end time set?
