Malformed when to the component causes a crash

When a malformed "when" is send to a component, it should manage the error instead of simply crash.
For example
past ... when
now +1m

To be clear, this issue is caused when sending a malformed temporal scope from outside the SDK, correct? (If the SDK itself is the cause of the malformed temporal scope, this is two bugs. :) )

@finvernizzi I don't have a test harness built to check this yet, can you see if you can reproduce using the method you found the bug with in the first place? thanks!
