Dashboard projects working similar to projects picker

Does anyone have a setup where the dashboard projects section shows the same directories as the projects picker, in particular using more patterns than just the git root (like "flake.nix" or ".svn")?
I know we can set our own project directories manually, but since that feature is already in pickers, why not have them match?
