The software crashes when opening video files.

The software became unresponsive and crashed when I tried to open a 24.7 GB video file from my camera. I have obtained the following logs from the Windows Event Viewer.

The software version I am using is v1.6.5 beta 1, and the same bug is also present in version v1.5.0.

Installed RAM: 48.0 GB (47.7 GB available)

I consulted the AI, which indicated that the issue might be caused by an unhandled System.ArgumentException in WPF's data-binding system. The exception occurs during dependency source validation (DependencyObject.ValidateSources), likely triggered by invalid binding paths or corrupted data when processing large video files. This suggests a potential memory or threading issue when updating UI bindings from background operations. I hope it is helpful.

You can try to issue the ffmpeg command that ffmetrics uses for getting mediainfo and measure execution time:
ffmpeg -hide_banner -nostdin -t 00:00:04 -i file.mp4 -frames:v 90 -filter:v idet -f null -

If it is exceeding the in-build timeout (60 seconds) -- try to increase it using FFMetrics.conf

I've noticed that opening other videos also has a chance of causing a crash, such as the one shown in the attached screenshot

I executed the command you provided, and the output is as follows:

Based on the animated gif you provided it looks like mediainfo was received & displayed correctly and the issue could be with getting preview.
So now you can try the following:
ffmpeg -hide_banner -nostdin -r 23.98 -ss 4 -i file.mp4 -frames:v 1 -f image2 -vf settb=AVTB,setpts=PTS-STARTPTS,-1:200 -pix_fmt rgb24 -sws_flags accurate_rnd+full_chroma_int+bitexact C:\Temp\img.bmp
Please notice how long will it take (the default timeout for the thumbnail extraction is 30 seconds)

P.S. It would be much easier for me if one follows troubleshooting steps and provide FFMetrics.log...

And use the latest beta version please (you mentioned version 1.6.5b in the OP, but in the animated gif I see version 1.5).

Sorry, I initially thought the stable version might not have this issue, so I switched to it for testing. However, it now appears that the same problem exists in v1.6.5b as well.

I used the command provided by the developer, and the output is as follows:

It appears there might be a syntax issue in the filter chain

And I've noticed that the software doesn't always crash immediately upon opening, sometimes it runs normally.

Sorry, I've made a mistake when manually created ffmpeg command (and missted 'scale=').
Could you try to execute the last command from your log?

As for the log you provided: for me it looks like you did not use option -log-level=debug. Did you?

I do not see anything strange in log at this moment. Will need to think...

I can see the created image in the folder.

If you need me to test any other specific scenarios or provide additional system information to help with the investigation.

I was not able to to re-produce the issue by supplying output from your log into the code :(
I've made some small changes in code but I do not think this will fix your issue.

Do you have the issue with smaller files?
If 'YES', will you be able to share such file?

I have the same issue, trying to open ANY file in it just causes it to crash. Tried.
v1.6.5 beta 1
and V1.5.0 same issue on both.

Same here. Crashes when opening any video file no matter what size.
FFBitrateViewer works fine and loads files.
But Metrics just instantly crashes upon adding a file.
