I’m also experiencing this exact Apple authentication failure when running eas build --platform ios --auto-submit.
The CLI fails at the login step with:

Authentication with Apple Developer Portal failed! Received an internal server error from Apple's App Store Connect / Developer Portal servers, please try again later.

This looks similar to other Apple auth issues previously reported (e.g. #2698), where Apple’s 2FA/auth endpoints return errors when called from the CLI but work fine via the browser.

It may help the maintainers to know whether this is caused by a recent change in Apple’s authentication API or a regression with how EAS CLI handles that login flow.

I’ve verified this happens reliably on my environment and did not resolve by updating to the latest eas-cli.

Same issue was working okay then happened around last week. Most likely an update on Apple's end

I was able to get the auth to work using a VPN into the US. I'm currently overseas so that may have been affecting it.

The truth is that I tried everything, what I found, the last thing I tried that worked for me was to delete the .app-store folder, in the eas.json change the version to "version": ">= 16.28.0", and the version of "expo": "~54.0.32"

Yes it's been very inconsistent for me. I can release one app but not another and then the app I could release fails again.
