Mono.WebBrowser implementation

Is there any possibility to implement Mono.WebBrowser on macOS?

I have tried to build mono/gluezilla manually on macOS, but it seems not working properly when invoking gluezilla_bind().

Have you managed to build it? It is quite hard if I remember correctly. Perhaps easier with webkit-sharp, but mono-webkit also does not work with webkit2 . It would be nice to use webkit in safari.

We have an implementation of the CefGlue API, including the WinForms control, on top of the native WebKit API. If there is any demand for that I can publish it but it would not be the same API as Mono.WebBrowser and the standard control anyway.

Hmm, the nice thing about mono-webkit is that it is compatible with winforms (while it was working with webkit1). Everything else is just wrapping a browser surface around C#... For that there is openwebkit-sharp, etc. Oh, XamarinMac has a C# bridge to safari's webkit, but it is not interface compatible to winforms.

Our project is just wrapper around the Xamarin.Mac WebKit binding that exposes the CefGlue interface, including the CefGlue.WindowsForms part. We use CEF on Windows and this as a substitute on macOS.

Argh, that explains it. So you do the browser-reuse in the opposite way as winforms's System.Browser : that uses the platforms' (IE) on windows and something else which is broken/unmaintained/not ideal on others.

By that I mean, putting a webkit variant on windows is an overhead.

I have managed to build it by rearranged some library folder structure and created a corresponding pkg-config file for libxul-embedding. But the built library binary is not working as expected.

Rearranged version: edisonlee55/gluezilla-mac.

For reference, here are our CefGlue projects (without the customized libcef files necessary on Windows). I'll try to publish it in some more cohesive form later but I am too busy now unfortunately. License is the same as the rest of mac-playground (MIT).
