F-droid integration

Hi,

Thank you so much for taking over on tempo. I love this app.

I was wondering if you plan to make it available in the f-droid repos.

I know it is on IzzyOnDroid repos but since tempo was available in the regular repos it would be great to have tempus too.

Anyway thank you for saving this app !

I love this app as well. I am very happy to have others help me keep it going and fix all the issues as well as adding new features.

I am in the process but am hitting road blocks for f-droid. There is a specific library that is the repo that needs to be built from scratch or pulled in from a trusted maven repo. I spent hours this week without success.

Also, this lib was added in 3.9 - that was the Antonio stopped publishing to f-droid - I suspect that was part of the issue.

I can get the build to success with the lib in there but it fails their scanning, when I take the lib out, the build fails.

@eddyizm is that the ffmpeg decoding thing? It seems that it still builds with the dependency commented out, but idk if it works with flac now (my library doesn't have flac).

If you unpack that AAR, it seems to be referencing and androidx media3 ffmpeg build. That is the rabbithole I was going down to find it but could only find the full androidx:media3 and not just the ffmpeg.

The link above is from maven central, and the apk built from it seems working. It is slightly larger, but maybe that is fine?

yeah, maybe, i just have to figure out how to add it and build it from within the gitlab fdroid container. My devops chops are not that great :-)

@pca006132 When I remove the ffmpeg lib and then run tempus locally both flac and ALAC codec songs seem to play fine... How were you able to break things? Also, if we do need ffmpeg, would this library from maven central work? I looked and it seems like it should, and adding it didn't seem to break anything, but like I said I wasn't able to get it to break with ffmpeg fully removed. @eddyizm

@loganank I believe it was added here for ALAC support about 14 months ago.

That library may do the trick, I can try to swap it out and test it for a while and then re-submit to F-Droid as that was, I believe, the only thing stopping the build to succeed and being submitted to their repo.

The ffmpeg may also be used in the transcoding, but I have not looked into it yet.
