add comprehensive error, warning, etc logging to flux calc pipeline

at least, top level script should report major errors as it goes along - reporting where/why an error or NA value set at any site/var/wy/method iteration. this will be crucial to have by time of publication, so all such weirdnesses are documented and at least somewhat directly explainable
