URGENT: What is the "URI" address in the Electrum wallet? How can I access the funds sent there? #81

About 7 months ago, a friend of mine transferred some bitcoin from her exchange wallet to her cold wallet (Electrum). In Electrum, when you go to the "Receive" tab, there are 3 address types that can be generated: URI (green icon), Address (blue icon, on-chain), and Lightning (lightning bolt icon).
At the time of generating the address to receive the funds, my friend accidentally left "URI" selected, and sent her satoshis to that address. I have no idea what this "URI" is. I just know that her satoshis are not showing up in Electrum, even though the transaction was successfully confirmed (I checked both on the exchange and on mempool).
I urgently need help: how can my friend recover her funds? What exactly is this "URI" address (green icon) in Electrum?
