Light entity does not report a color mode

Seems like some changes will be needed, from the logs:

light.light_bar_1 (<class 'homeassistant.components.mqtt.light.schema_json.MqttLightJson'>) does not report a color mode, this will stop working in Home Assistant Core 2025.3

Thanks for the hint! I've noticed myself a few days ago. It shouldn't be hard to implement and I'll take a closer look soon!

Any updates on this? The light bar cannot be controlled via HA anymore after updating to 2026.3.0.

I've tried to reproduce the issue in my local setup. I've upgraded Home Assistant to 2026.3.1 yesterday and still everything seemed to work fine. Could you maybe give Version 0.3 a try? And if the issue still occurs, could you add some logs of Home Assistant or a more detailed description of what exactly stopped working?

Upgrading to version 0.3 with HA 2026.3.1 did not fix the issue.

The only relevant record in the Home Assistant logs is this:

2026-03-09 17:32:05.855 ERROR (MainThread) [homeassistant.components.websocket_api.http.connection] [547402594272] Error during service call to light.turn_on: light.light_bar_1_light_bar (<class 'homeassistant.components.mqtt.light.schema_json.MqttLightJson'>) does not report a color mode

This issue usually occurs after HA restart (not after each restart I would say though, somewhat flaky behaviour).

1. Restart HA. The light bar is off.
2. Try turning on the light bar. The light bar turns on but HA reports the state as "Off".
3. Click "On" on the light bar once again, hoping that the state will change. The state remains "Off", an error message "Error during service call to light.turn_on: light.light_bar_1_light_bar (<class 'homeassistant.components.mqtt.light.schema_json.MqttLightJson'>) does not report a color mode" in HA appears.
4. (optional workaround) The only workaround I have found so far is navigating to the light bar page in HA and choosing any of the favourite colours. This makes the light bar to report state as "On" and then everything seems to work normally after that.
