Feature Request: Support for Slack and Discord (Beyond Telegram)

I’d like to ask whether there are any plans to support chat platforms beyond Telegram, such as:

• Discord
• Slack

codex-agent already supports Slack, Discord, and any other messaging platform that OpenClaw supports — not just Telegram. The notification system is platform-agnostic by design.

How It Works

Under the hood, both hook scripts (hooks/on_complete.py and hooks/pane_monitor.sh) use OpenClaw's unified messaging CLI:

openclaw message send --channel <CHANNEL> --target <CHAT_ID> --message "..."
openclaw agent --agent <AGENT_NAME> --deliver --channel <CHANNEL> ...

There is no Telegram-specific code anywhere in the hooks. The --channel parameter is read from the CODEX_AGENT_CHANNEL environment variable (defaulting to telegram if not set).

How to Configure for Slack / Discord / Other Platforms

Simply set the following environment variables in your ~/.zshrc or ~/.bashrc:

# For Slack:
export CODEX_AGENT_CHANNEL="slack"
export CODEX_AGENT_CHAT_ID="your_slack_channel_id"

# For Discord:
export CODEX_AGENT_CHANNEL="discord"
export CODEX_AGENT_CHAT_ID="your_discord_channel_id"

# For WhatsApp:
export CODEX_AGENT_CHANNEL="whatsapp"
export CODEX_AGENT_CHAT_ID="your_whatsapp_chat_id"

Then run source ~/.zshrc to apply.

That's it — both task completion notifications and approval monitoring will automatically use the configured channel. No code changes needed.

Prerequisites

Make sure the target channel is already configured and running in your OpenClaw instance. You can verify with:

openclaw gateway status

And test message delivery with:

openclaw message send --channel <your_channel> --target <your_chat_id> --message "test"
