Description
Instagram recently changed how profile grids display. Instead of the long-standing square thumbnails (1080×1080, 1:1), the grid now shows taller previews in roughly 3:4 aspect ratio (~1013×1350).
Problem:
The planner currently assumes square previews. This can cause mismatches—images or layouts designed in the planner may look cropped or misaligned on Instagram’s new grid.
Evidence / references:
Reddit discussion
reporting new 3:4 grid previews.
Industry blog
confirming the change and dimensions.
Suggested enhancements:
Update docs to mention that Instagram uses 3:4 thumbnails.
Add an optional 3:4 grid preview mode in the UI so users can better simulate Instagram’s layout.
Include a warning or tooltip if users are designing with the old square assumption.
Why this matters:
Photographers and videographers planning their feeds need to know exactly how posts will look. Keeping the tool aligned with Instagram’s current behavior improves accuracy and user trust.
