Check datastore persistence respects `-no-files` opt

Maybe need to rethink that cli arg. Would like to be able to persist the datastores even in that mode. But I don't want to expose a way to mess with the local filesystem. Must consider 🤔

Need a -read-only-files as well. May be handy. Easy to add.
