Just an FYI, paged plugin uses the base file name and extension to generate paginated pages. I'll look into fixing one or the other.

Not sure, haven't checked... What matters is whether or not someone has the opportunity to work on it when compared to everything else they may have on their plate. If time is important, posting more details, debugging the issue, doing a pull request, or placing a bounty via bountysource.com on the issue, are all great ways to speed the process up.

Would we have to change the basename of new pages? Seems like it's functional to me. Mind testing again?

Perhaps this will get fixed with docpad/docpad-plugin-paged#12?

It's just bizarre as we have tests within the paged plugin specifically for cleanurls compat

@patrickkim have you tried the latest version of the paged plugin? I've added a bit of functionality around cleanurls (docpad/docpad-plugin-paged#22) and it all worked fine for me, plus we have more tests with them both being in place.
