Question of how to use AVP

As i started the avp application after following the steps as below in my ubunts based distro:

After i installed the ffmpeg in my system and then start the application by follow the upper all steps and then run avp i found this start the gui application which shows like this below:

i don't understand why the color2 part is not clickable or why it not choosing anything, how i can do this?

Can anyone here please describe what happens, when this command is run in my terminal, is this again use internet & clone the repo somehow or what, as i already cloned the repo, so it again doing clone or what?

Yes, that command pipx clones the repo and installs it for you in a virtual environment. It's just a short way to use the program if you don't want to clone and do all the steps

You can also use pipx install . in the clone the same as you would use regular pip. Pipx is just like pip but it does the virtual environment stuff for you. So if you have two different Python programs using two different dependencies, pipx automatically keeps those two versions separate where pip would require you to run python -m venv etc to keep the two versions separate.

That is for selecting second colour of gradient. Click where it says "Fill: Solid" and change "Solid" to "Radial Gradient" or "Linear Gradient"

Also, you can reinstall with pipx using

• pipx install --force

And you can uninstall AVP with:

• pipx uninstall audio-visualizer-python

The package itself is called the full name audio-visualizer-python even though the commandline is called avp

As for how there is no main.py file, this program is a Python package which means Python can import the /src/avp folder. When Python imports a folder, it first runs __init__.py. If you run the package with python -m avp (which does the same as avp command) then Python runs __main__.py

Also, you can reinstall with pipx using

pipx install --force
so when i run like this avp install or skmple pipx install our repo's name, in which location does it keep this repo and build?
i thought in a location of the Home dir, the full repo got saved but where in these case after 'pipx uninstall .' does it remove all thing,

I want to start also some contribution to these projects, i am newly learning python and so on...
What what things i need to Learn to start contribution to this project, as i was learning GitHub and python for general and want to start some contribution, can u say me some way for this case?

pipx places the virtual environments it creates within ~/.local/share/pipx/venvs

as for whether it removes everything: that is something you may want to double-check yourself. I think it tries to, but I delete everything to be safe :p

Is this the correct way also to delete the avp if from my os i want to delete this completely, so that later for future version i can also use this easily with new version install?

On my system, that seems to do the same thing as running pipx uninstall

So it should be fine.

I've started recording a video where I explain how the code works. It may take me a while and some of it is very advanced (in the core), but I will try to highlight some simpler areas where newcomers can try to contribute (making components/visualizers).

I'm working on it now. Could be tomorrow, could be a few days, I'm not sure yet.

I'm curious why you are asking about running main.py? If it's about being able to edit the code and run it easily, you can make an editable install with pip install -e . after cloning and making the venv.

You could also run python3 src/avp/__main__.py directly if you wish.

I recorded a devlog video where I copy-paste the Classic Visualizer component (original.py and original.ui) and try to explain how you can make changes to it to create a different visualizer. I hope this is helpful if you're interested in working on visualizers or editing some existing ones to add options or something.

If you have a specific idea of what you'd like to contribute, maybe I can provide some other help. Adding new components is probably one of the easiest things for new contributors to do, I think.
