Use for motor control using VISCA?

Hi,

Does this software allow me to turn my raspberry pi, with 2 servo's attached to it using the PCA9685, into an VISCA compatible PTZ camera? Or is this software not capable of doing that?

Sorry I missed your question earlier.

This project could be a good starting point, but it would be just that – a starting point. Specifically:

• This is designed for a large pan-tilt gimbal with multiturn rotary encoders and normal motors. With servo motors, you'd be writing your own code to set the position, using an entirely different approach for providing the output PWM based on a combination of the desired speed and the intended position, whereas this code just outputs PWM based on the desired speed. A motor with a position encoder would probably be easier to get working, as I'm going to push support for non-multiturn position encoders pretty soon.

• This provides no control for any sort of zoom or focus or color balance functionality on the Pi camera, because it wasn't designed to be used with a camera that's actually attached to the Pi, but rather for an external camcorder feeding into a standalone NDI-HX encoder. So you'd have to tie those commands in yourself if you wanted them to work.

And of course, this is just control code; you would need other software or hardware for actually providing the video output in some form.
