Movable text labels

Hi all, I'm using the microscope measurement tool for ImageJ. In the script the label of the measure it can be positioned just on the left or on the right of the last point of the drawn line. Sometime I have the issue that the label cover a part of other object in the pic.
My question is, is it possible to code a not fixed position of the text in order to move the label in the space of the pic?
If it is possible how can be done?
I'm totally new of python coding language. there is someone that can explain me how to do it?

Perhaps you can see if the Overlay functionality would allow us to draw the text (and line) to something like a new layer on the image, possibly allowing us to move them after they've been drawn.

Hello,

I think what you want to try is using the "overlay" functionality. I've thought about this but never got around to trying it.
I believe what Overlay would do is something like adding the drawn line/text to a new layer, which might enable you to be able to move it or delete it after it's been drawn.

However currently the line & text are drawn directly onto the image, which means they're stuck where they are.

If you figure this out, I'd really love it if you posted some example code of how to use Overlay, perhaps as a comment on the github issue tracker, so I can then try to add it to the main code.

Hello @aumemm, Any update on looking into Overlay?

Also, as a temporary workaround, you could draw the label with some transparency using the 'alpha' option in the color setting.

Colors are coded as [R, G, B, Alpha] where Alpha = 1.0 is opaque, and Alpha = 0 is completely transparent.
