Calculating grids for flash centroid density

Is there a way to calculate flash centroid density with glmtools?

Can I do this with make_GLM_grid.py file with some of the other settings in the command line.

make_GLM_grids.py [-h] -o directory --ctr_lat latitude --ctr_lon
longitude --start yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm:ss --end
yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm:ss [--dx km] [--dy km]
[--dt seconds] [--width distance in km]
[--height distance in km]
[filename [filename ...]]

Or

Would it be better to leave the data in fixed grid coordinates to enable me to bin the data to a rectilinear grid as opposed to a curvilinear grid?
