Bug Description

After installing the new update of the ExtraMetadataLoader (v1.83), my playnite interface freezes as soon as I launch playnite and the interface is about to load up. After a while, it works again. However, I noticed that the interface freezes again when I click on a different game tile. It takes an incredibly long time to unfreeze. Also, video downloading works now but also takes a long time to download. Sometimes it takes about 10mins just to download video metadata for a single game. And I know it is not my internet connection. I added a preview of how it hangs at the launch of playnite.

I can confirm that my performance with the [ExtraMetadataLoader] extension has also been poor recently. I believe this is because the extension does not crop or trim the downloaded logos, which results in heavier image files and increased system load.

Can you try disabling this option if you have it enabled?

If the issue remains, please try disabling every other extension and see if the issue remains.

Recently, I’ve been getting a lot of performance issues with Playnite, so I reinstalled Playnite and every extension one by one (even the metadata itself) and tested everything. Somehow, the performance issue is related to the ExtraMetadataLoader extension itself, and it only appears on certain game pages while loading. While searching for the reason, I realized that the resolution of these performance-affecting game logos is absurdly large (even 4K). This is the reason why I said, “I believe this is because the extension does not crop or trim the downloaded logos, which results in heavier image files and increased system load.” Plus, I don’t use your extension’s video features; I only use it for logos.
