Is Vanguard down for everyone else?

My understanding is that ofxtools first sends something to https://vesnc.vanguard.com/us/OfxProfileServlet, which appears to succeed and points to https://vesnc.vanguard.com/us/OfxDirectConnectServlet for subsequent requests, but those appear to return with an html document indicating "Page Not Found".

I can provide more details about my versions, etc if that would be helpful, but I'm somewhat confident the problem is on Vanguard's end (or at least due to a change on their end) since this used to work for me, and similar errors are being reported by users of Moneydance.

Update: Vanguard appears to have fixed the issue on their end

Can you provide further information? It still does not work for me. I get a timeout error.

Unfortunately Vanguard broke it again on their end, and it may be permanent this time.

Thanks for the quick reply. Vanguard being permanently and intentionally broken seems like a real possibility from the research I've done. On the other hand it seems like the connection is broken for other providers like Tiller (which I think uses Yodlee): https://til.link/institution-outages. So many Vanguard is just having problems and will fix all connections.

Any thoughts on an automated way to download information from Vanguard? The best I have found so far is something browser automation via something like https://github.com/rikonor/vanguard-api. I don't love that idea but given my experience with Vanguard, I wonder if that is the best long term solution.

For now, I wrote my own web-automation script using playwright. I agree that isn't a great long term solution, but I'm resigned to it likely being the best option

Would you be willing to share your web-automation script? I think I'll have to go that approach as well. It's really unfortunate since anyone sane using a script like that will probably have to review it themselves for security.

If you're a financial advisor and you can have your clients setup the inquiry only access then it's less of an issue. For an individual, however, I don't see anyone way to use the "inquiry only" feature to have a "safe" download account since I would need another Vanguard account.
