Annotations are stacked/generally broken

I'm trying to annotate my pdf. If I add a second annotation onto the same page as the previous, only the text of the first annotation is shown. As soon as I delete that annotation, the next annotation in line is shown.

1 -> 2 -> 3

Whichever I click, I see the text for 1. Now if I delete 1, I see the text for 2.

Additionally, sometimes annotations just disappear from view after deleting a completely unrelated one. They return after closing the pdf and opening it back up.

On a related note: it appears to me that the only kind of annotation supported is the "text as sticky note" kind. Are highlighting, underlining, squiggly, etc. not supported? Thanks for clarifying!
