i'm sure most of the members would be willing to give a small regular donation. 179 members on the slack. 50p a month from half the members is over £40 a month. You could do some cool stuff with that. I'm sure some members would be willing to give more.

what is funding for?

A couple people in Slack brought up that we shouldn't have to foot the bill for everything.

Current expenses only amount to:

• Hosting
• Domain name

But there are other things like the cakes at the birthday meetup and I buy speakers a drink.

Having a bit more money (over simply paying the bills) would allow us to do more good stuff:

• reimburse speakers travel, etc
• a better location for the meetup
• "free" drinks and food for attendees
• maybe reimburse time spent on CG, e.g. Martins time on logos and design
• ✨ other cool things I can't think of right now ✨

Something else that needs answering other than where the money would come from is where it would go. I have no idea. Setting up a non-profit or something?

I've set up an Open Collective account but we'd need to have a host to be able to take money. Maybe Software Cornwall would be interested?
