i believe the way Audius solved it (partially applicable to you) sort of prefixed how their cdn and system of segmentation works. they use what is basically just HLS, and node operators are responsible for DMCA takedowns themselves. As everything is served via IPFS, they basically had to block all the cids of all the segments of all the qualities, which I think led to a lot more blocking data than a normal app. If a special Comet CDN is in the plans, I think the best idea to block specific main content cids + forward the takedowns to the pds hosts + block access to the content via the appview based on trustworthy labeler reports or other takedown reports. I don't think the 'trusted copywriter' approach is the best, as I don't particularly trust companies like UMG/Sony to do the right thing when it comes to allowing fair use, etc. IMO they can be fairly heavy handed and overreaching a lot of the time. |

I am also thinking about a music lexicon, as I am a musician and a coder looking into ATProto. I am an indie musician that knows the business from the indie label side. We mainly work with copyright collection societies, because this is how we create income in a legal framework, even as indie musicians. Especially in Europe, copyright collection societies are organised legally as cooperations, and have both the smallest composers as the big major publishing companies as their members. I personally think that we should create lexicons that also use the standard metadata points like ISRC and IWSC. For me, the collecting societies are good candidates to do some kind of verification that these data are correct and rightfully linked to ATProto dids. I understand Audius has a similar approach, but I don't know much about this project. It would not be great if Comet were to become rife with copyright violations and piracy - as much as I believe the current rights systems are flawed - so we want some way to be able to enforce it in a way that is usable for both labels and independent artists, ideally without harming unofficial remixers and other valid creations.
My current ideas:
