Merge with TeX Gyre fonts?

Hello,
I have been unsatisfied with the GS fonts for a while until I found the TeX Gyre fonts. They extended and cleaned the fonts, now e.g. Helvetica/TeX Gyre Heros doesn't have weird descending glyphs like the "a" or "t" anymore. Unfortunately, they aren't 100% compatible it seems, as e.g. the line height is much larger. So I don't know what to make of it. Have you taken a look at them?
