Questions regarding the use of F' on STM32

Hey!

I'm part of a high school team who are working on designing a CubeSAT. We decided on the STM32 architecture over a Raspberry Pi based architecture due to the inclusion of embedded memory and other components. I learned of F' recently and saw your reply to the issue on the main F' repo (fprime on STM32H7 followup #1933). I was wondering if you would recommend using F' baremetal to use it on the STM32 or if it would be better to simply use FreeRTOS. If you recommend using F' then could you please explain how to use your repository and compile it for our use.

I have achieved building my flight software fully with fprime using Zephyr RTOS on stm32f769i discovery board. Right now i am exploring to use freeRTOS as my RTOS but still struggling. If you wanna use zephyr RTOS to deploy fprime in STM. Let me know. If I will be successful in deploying fprime with freeRTOS i will update here.

Hi @amaysinghania, I would definitely recommend using an RTOS of some sort if you have complex flight software. I am hoping to some day have this repo support FreeRTOS, but it isn't there yet. This project can be built using the standard F` tools, assuming your board is supported. You just need to set the STM32_TOOLCHAIN_PATH in env.ini. If your board isn't one that currently has a folder, you can duplicate one of the existing ones and update the startup code, BSP headers, and compiler flags.
