Stuttering in TR:A while using this mod

While this mod adds borderless windowed mode (so i can minimize the game without crashing) it also adds severe stuttering/fps fluctuation which was not before =(

Hi, sorry about the stuttering - haven't had a report of that yet so interested to see what's going on. What framerate are you running on and does this happen all the time? Do you have any recording software running and does it stop if you turn it off? There was an instance of a bug caused by recording software being present before which I was able to work around.

I'm running TR:A in 60 fps and its happening all the time with borderless mod, just loaded any level and tried to turn the camera with gamepad for constant speed and i can immediately notice the stutters, also disabled geforce experience and MSI afterburner for the sake of the experiment..

Does it happen if you turn off VSync in the game settings? That could help figure out whether it's to do with the framerate emulation I put in or if it's something else.

Same with Vsync off (maybe a little less noticeable stutters, but still). Anyway, my monitor is maximum 60hz and game has game-breaking bugs at higher fps, so vsync on (or framerate cap) is still needed 😅

At least I know it isn't the framerate code then. With VSync back on can you try enabling "Disable full-screen optimizations" on the tra.exe in properties? It's a bit of a guess but worth a try.

Do you have multiple graphics cards, like on a laptop with integrated and dedicated cards? Wondering if it is choosing the integrated one for some reason.

I'll try and think of other potential causes/fixes in the mean time.

"Disable full-screen optimizations" have no effect and my integrated card is disabled.

I don't know how it could help you (especially with youtube compression and additional potential slowdowns of recording software😅), but i will try to record something..

Thanks, that helps just to see the amount of lag. Seems to be a one frame pause every so often. I'll keep experimenting and I'll also see if anyone else has had this problem. One more thing I just remembered, if you have an Nvidia card can you see if G-Sync is on for TRA and if so try with it disabled?

Hmm, i will try it but my monitor don't support gsync/freesync anyway
