Need to change path to linked external text files

I have been using Qualcoder with Wine and the linked files are located in Z:/home/user/path/to/file. Now I use the Ubuntu binary and all works well except that these paths should now be: /home/user/path/to/file.

I think there should be a way to change such paths (a) in a batch, (b) one-by-one manually through the right-click menu of each file, or (c)
when QC fails to act on 'View original text file'.

All of these would help, but (c) is essential as at the moment QC does nothing when you ask to View the file. It doesn't even complain.

At the moment I am not sure how to re-point the linked file entries without losing the connection with my codings.

Going in the database dialog (alt+b) or open the database yourproject.qda/data.qda (with e.g. Sqlite browser). But, before, doing a backup.

That should be alt+d I guess. Thanks! In the meanwhile, I had found 'Manage bad links to files' and updated the paths manually. I was meaning to come back here and say that the above ideas are still relevant. Users are conditioned to expect to be able to change a wrong path on the spot where the error occurs.

Also, the above fixed the paths and QC is not complaining any more but still 'View original text file' does nothing here. I even restarted the application.

There must still be something not right with the link, for the original file not to open.
The database stored link should be as least on Windows like this format: docs:C:/Users/me/Documents/myfile.docx

I guess if it is on another drive, that is something that have not been tested. Not had the capacity so far.

To clarify, after I fixed the paths to work with the Ubuntu version, QC stopped complaining about broken links in Project Summary and the paths displayed in the tooltips in Manage Files are correct in this format:

docs:/home/user/path/to/file

I also linked a new .txt file to test. The path displayed in the tooltip is:

docs:/home/user/Downloads/test.txt

Double-clicking opens it for View, but 'View original text file' does nothing. There is no other drive involved.

I think a user would expect to be able to update the link path and file name by right-clicking on the file entry, and even ask QC to open the folder in the system file manager.

I don't know why that happens for you. View original file works fine for me (Windows and Ubuntu)

I have made an improvement to this. In Manage Files the tooltip will state the original file not found. When opening the View original file menu option, it will ask the user to update the file path.
