HI there! Im new to QualCoder so bear with me. I am hoping to use this program to code a series of videos as part of a team, and so I need to use the Coder Name feature. However, the problem Im running into is that when I enter in a new code name, it changes the current coder to that name but does not save the Coder Name. When I open the settings (called "Preferences" on Mac) and click the Other Coders dropdown, it lists no Coders, not even the default coder. To note, in case this is part of the problem: I have not started coding anything yet as Im still learning how to use the program before I commit to using it for our research purposes. Any help would be much appreciated! |

Hi, you have also described the why it occurs. Instead, Qualcoder looks at all the database tables, and finds all the coder names that have been used: to code, to import files, etc. It then presents this list in the drop down box. So perhaps try this: |

Hi, you have also described the why it occurs.
Qualcoder does not separately store a list of coder names. Only the current coder.
So adding other names in Settings will not on its own, add a coder name to the project.
Instead, Qualcoder looks at all the database tables, and finds all the coder names that have been used: to code, to import files, etc. It then presents this list in the drop down box.
So perhaps try this:
import a file under a coder name. then change the name in Settings, then import another file, etc
