The LED isn't working on my Switch Lite

I enabled LED=1 in the settings, but my Switch Lite’s LED isn’t working.
Heard from a friend that homebrew software can’t control the Lite’s LED—just wanted to find out if that’s true.

LED won't light up on my my switch either. I have the older un-patched model.
