Some clarifications on the role of a Super Validator:
Further context: To mint its share of the pool, the Super Validator needs to meet its commitments. Once it has met, or partially met, its commitments, it identifies a Daml Party that will interact with the network in every round. This party is the beneficiary of the rewards. To continue to mint rewards in every minting round, Super Validators must perform perform activity on the network, using that beneficiary party, in every minting round. One of the commitments a Super Validator can make is to operate a Super Validator node. Only Super Validator nodes participate in the onchain synchronization process: coordinating ordering, delivery and confirmation across all Validator nodes involved in any given transaction. A Super Validator that does not operate a node may still mint its share of the Super Validator rewards by agreeing with another Super Validator node operator to host its beneficary party. This "extra" beneficiary ( An extraBeneficiary party records its activity in each minting round, and mints rewards proportional to its weight. An extraBeneficiary party does not participate in onchain ordering, delivery and confirmation. |
