Question about use case #166

Hello, I’m from Chunghwa Telecom. I have some questions about Use Case 1: Phone Fraud on the official website. Why does this use case mention SIM Swap? What I mean is, if a fraudster already has the victim's SIM card, why would they need to set up call forwarding to another phone? If they have the victim's SIM card, can't they already do things like receiving OTPs or bank calls? Why would they need to set up call forwarding to another phone? What is the purpose of the call forwarding signal in this case? |

Sorry for the late answer. The two APIs, CFS and SIM Swap, are used in the ‘Account Takeover’ scenario to cover two possible kind of frauds that doesn't happen simultaneously. I mean you are totally right, if the fraudster already got the SIM he doesn't use the call forwarding scam. The ‘Account Takeover’ scenario is managed by banks with the two APIs to cover two different kind of frauds. |
