[Feature] Ability to select destination folder when starting a download

Thank you for this excellent piece of software.

I have multiple folders in my media library, in a structure like:

media/
L ebooks/
     |
     L___  fiction
     L____ non-fiction
     L____ private
 
 L audiobooks/
     |
     L___  fiction
     L____ non-fiction
     L____ grapihicaudio

Majority of hte time I would be downloading fiction books / audiobooks so its not a trouble to keep the default destination directoy set to fiction and move the files later if needed.

But it would be wonderful to have the ability to change the destinaiton library / folder when you start a download (perhaps similar to selecting root directory in *arr apps?)

Flow I imagine would be:

1. Search for "bookname"
2. Click on a suitable search result

• hows the available files
• beneath the book details, before the available files, it will display Folder: /media/ebooks/fiction (defult to fiction)
• User changes this to another directory (/media/ebooks/non-fiction) and app will remember this as a root directory
• next time user needs to change this, /media/ebooks/non-fcition will appear in a drop down list.

3. downloader will set the new $destination_dir and copy / organize according to the naming rules set up
4. file will now appear in /media/ebooks/non-fiction/author/bookname, and BookLore / Audiobookshelf will scan and add it to the correct library.

This is essentially the only thing thats missing in the ebook/audiobook automation flow, once this feature is available the app will be perfect!

This already exists as a feature

You should be able to see it in Options / Settings

Can you share your docker compose ? Some env variables might lock this feature

@calibrain I moved this to the AA settings as none of the categories work with prowlarr/IRC, so this may be a different issue

Oh I had missed that!

But no luck unfortunately. I tried setting content type routing in Direct downloads, then downloaded few history books and biographies. I cannot see any aditional download directory option, and any automatic category routing does not seem to be working at the moment. Files get added to the default download destination set in Settings > Downloads

Besides, this does address some cases where users might have specialized libraries, like Engineering library or History library etc. Organizing files after adding to default library works, so its not too much of an issue , just nice to have.

I would also love this feature.

Books: In Booklore I have a "New" library from where I can then move the books to another library. In the optimal case I am able to choose the library as part of the download process

Audiobooks: As far as I know ABS does not support moving audio books from one library to another with the UI. So doing it on the file level is kind of cumbersome. Here it would also be great to be able to choose the ABS library before the download starts. Or as a start, I can create a "new" library and then move it manually out of there.

This would not need to be limited to direct downloads but would also work for Prowlarr downloads.

Definitely needed. Possibly done in the same way the arr apps do it with torrent client? I don't usually use direct sources so "Enable Content-Type Routing" in direct source downloads won't be sufficient 98% of the time. At the moment everything torrent works, downloads, moves to book folder, named correctly but I'll have to move audiobook files manually to the right genre folder after because I keep genres separate.
