highlights dissapeared from pdf files

I have a new macbook pro m1 and I am using the roam research desktop app and I am finding some inconsistent behavior on the highloighted pdfs, which I believe stems from an update

1. For some documents the highlights have dissappeared from the text, and the buttons at the end of the highlights don't do anything. I have tested this idea and I think it is related to the creation of a mapping page for every pdf upload that saves the coordinates of the highlights. I deleted some of those pages and now my highlights are gone. Is there a way to recover those pages?
2. older pdfs that were uploaded before that update have also lost their highlights and the buttons at the end of the highlighs open the pdf file on the side panel. Additionally, any new highlight made is erased after regreshing roam.

Is there a way to solve this issue?
