Better dependency specifications?

There can be bugs caused by incorrect versions of dependencies. For example, I have had a report of failures due to having the deprecated stand-alone boututils package installed. Would probably be good to check the minimum working versions for dependencies (boutdata, etc.) and update the pyproject.toml. If there was a way of setting up to forbid stand-alone boututils, that would be even better!

We could check on startup whether boututils is to old, and exit with a clear error. That is not as good as specifying it, but should be easy enough for most users to identify and fix the errors quickly.
