'dict object' has no attribute 'active_filament'

I tried to follow the instructions on how to use spool2klipper but I keep getting the following error every time I try to start a print.

Error evaluating 'gcode_macro ASSERT_ACTIVE_FILAMENT:gcode': jinja2.exceptions.UndefinedError: 'dict object' has no attribute 'active_filament'

I've included all the geode macros and I can see the spool id changing when I change the spool in mainsail.

Any clue what is causing this?

Are you using nfc2klipper and/or spoolman2slicer? I do not use those apps in my workflow but I looked into them, it seems that the ASSERT_ACTIVE_FILAMENT macro (as well as the SET_ACTIVE_FILAMENT macro) both refer to a variable in the printer save_variables file called active_filament. However spool2klipper stores the filament ID in the variable active_filament_id.

1. Do you have the [save_variables] configured in your printer.cfg?
2. If you open the save_variables file do you see active_filament or active_filament_id variables? If you change the spool using the spoolman front-end interface then spool2klipper should update the active_filament_id.

I believe if you update the ASSERT_ACTIVE_FILAMENT and SET_ACTIVE_FILAMENT macros to use the correct variable active_filament_id then it should work. I'm not 100% sure there aren't other dependencies but see if this helps.

Hey, thanks for your reply, I'm using spoolman2 slicer and want to add spool2klipper to my workflow. I'm not planning on using nfc2 klipper at this point.
I have the save_variables set up in klipper and when I change the spool I see the active_filament_id being changed in the file. This is also being reported in the console.
Initially I did get the message saying "Unknown command:"_SPOOLMAN_CLEAR_SPOOL"" and I can't find this gcode macro anywhere, so I modified spool2klipper.cfg to use CLEAR_ACTIVE_SPOOL.
I have all the gcode macros from nfc2klipper and spool2klipper added to my printer.cfg just to be sure I'm not missing anything.

Ahhh, thanks for pointing out an error in the install docs, at one point the macro was named SPOOLMAN_CLEAR_SPOOL but it was changed recently and the config file has not been updated, I can fix that.

The CLEAR_ACTIVE_SPOOL macro is part of the functionality limited to Spoolman and is not the same as the _SPOOLMAN_CLEAR_FIELDS macro for spool2klipper. In your spool2klipper macros there is a macro that "Removes spool info", you'll need to update the macro name to _SPOOLMAN_CLEAR_FIELDS in order for spool2klipper to work right.

Still, you'll need to edit the macros used in spoolman2slicer and update the variable name as I described previously. I believe they may be in a file called klipper-spoolman.cfg

To fix:

1. In the SET_ACTIVE_FILAMENT macro change this line:
   SAVE_VARIABLE VARIABLE=active_filament VALUE={id}
   to this:
   SAVE_VARIABLE VARIABLE=active_filament_id VALUE={id}

2. In the ASSERT_ACTIVE_FILAMENT macro change this line:
   {% set current_id = printer.save_variables.variables["active_filament"]|int %}
   to this:
   {% set current_id = printer.save_variables.variables["active_filament_id"]|int %}

3. In the spool2klipper macros, change the macro name to _SPOOLMAN_CLEAR_FIELDS
