write doesn't really write

When I write files to an ext4 partition, they seem to be written, but they aren’t. When I unplug and reconnect my external drive, the files are gone.

This is very important, I lose data to this on my internal storage whenever my PC hangs and I have to force shutdown or when power is lost, I have to constantly/automatically backup all changes
