Could not find the configuration node: database/database(@id='master')

Hello,

On the Sitecore (10.2) CD instance we are seeing below error message in the log files.

"Synthesis tried to get a list of templates but couldn't because the master database wasn't defined. You should disable startup sync checks on CD instances."
How can we disable Synthesis on CD instance.

Hi @meethitesh28,

You likely have 2 problems here:

1. the Synthesis.AutoRegenerate.config is deployed to the CD server
2. you have <compilation debug="true"> in the web.config of the CD server

My recommendations:

1. Ensure that <compilation debug="false"> on a CD server. Having this set to true is a bad practice on both CM and CD servers... it should only ever be true on local environments.
2. Either remove Synthesis.AutoRgenerate.config from the CD server or add role:require="Standalone or ContentManagement" to the <sitecore> node of the config file (don't forget the xmlns at the top of the file)

However, if you set compilation debug to false, you probably don't need to also do #2.

Thanks @blipson89 for the quick response.

I can see that Synthesis.AutoRegenerate.config is deployed to the CD server. We've disabled that.
I don't see in the web.config. In this case, do I still need to add in my web.config? or disabling Synthesis.AutoRegenerate.config will fix the issue?
