Emails are displayed without body

From my tests, 90% of the emails I have pushed to Slack don't show the body of the mail, only the subject.

for example:

Received mail from ceva@ceva.ro.
Sender name
Subject line
_Sorry, no text available._
Today at 2:21 PM

any ideas on how to get the text version of the email body?

Later edit: I have found these in the logs:

2018-10-24 20:19 Fetching 1 new mail(s)…,
2018-10-24 20:19 Could not parse content of mail #6665.,
2018-10-24 20:19 [Error: Could not find text/plain content in MIME tree.],
2018-10-24 20:19 Sent 1 notification(s) to Slack.,

Hi @gabiudrescu,

unfortunately, this is expected behavior if the email does not contain a plain text representation. It is quite cumbersome to safely and reliably parse an HTML multipart message and convert it to text, but it can be done and there are probably some libraries to do so. If you intend to implement this, you're welcome to submit a pull request. 🙂

I have to say that I rarely had this problem when I used slack-email-webhook, that's why I decided to leave it as is and spare the extra dependencies. A good email client should always send a plain text version along with the HTML version, that's why I wonder where the problematic emails come from?
