Make it faster to find objective when reporting research

To make it quicker to submit a research task, is it possible to allow text input on the Objective field that would narrow down the list? For example, start typing "catch" and it would show only the items in the list that match catch. This would make it less tedious, especially for those who report many tasks each day.

This is an interesting proposal and one that I can see being useful, but it comes with a couple of caveats. The main issue is that the HTML element that facilitates this has unsatisfactory browser support - notably Safari (including iOS versions) does not support it. This means that to get full coverage for this feature, I'd need to make a custom implementation, which can potentially get big and ugly pretty fast. It is doable, but it will probably take a bit of research and time to implement it.

I believe I've found a way to incorporate this; while not the exact suggestion you made, it's similar. Instead of drop-down boxes where you have to scroll a long way to find the correct task, you could instead be presented with an icon matrix (icons of this type for objectives, and the similar equivalent for rewards) - clicking on an icon would then display a narrowed down list of objectives/rewards for the type you chose, i.e. if you click on the battle icon, you get a list of battle-related objectives only. This should eliminate scrolling almost entirely.

I don't have a preview of how this would look, but when I get the time to implement this, I'll make sure to include a screenshot here.

I've implemented the change; here's a preview:

The former pair of screenshots shows the list with no filters active. You can enable filters by clicking on the type of objective you want to report. In the latter screenshots, I've clicked on the "raid" objective category icon, and clicking the dropdown will no longer show non-raid-related objectives. Clicking the already active objective icon will reset the filters and display everything again.

This also works for rewards in the same way.
