what do you guys think about including nextgen gallery as a core plugin? can it do more than our current thumbnail tools can do?

This plugin looks pretty good. Haven't tested it myself yet, but that's something for you front end types. My only concern would be whether or not we can use Bootstrap markup with it - that's the big advantage with the overrides we currently do.

The other choice would be to find a Boostrapped plugin like this: https://github.com/twittem/wp-bootstrap-gallery. There's far less features here though.

i'll run some tests and see if it's worth including.

although it'll create a dependency for a basic function (gallery) which i'd like to avoid.
