Conversion from unicode codepoint string to glyph and vis versa?

Hey,
to be honest, I probably do not know enough about codepoints, encodings and the like so this may be obvious from your documentation, but to me - currently - I am not sure how to do this.

Give a python str of the codepoint (e.g. 'U+1F40D') how do I go to / from glyph and vis versa?

Just convert it to an integer (strip off the 'U+' and pass the rest to hex()).
